April saw the start of the 2nd group of apprentices funded by the DHET. 5 Turners, 25 fitters and 25 electrician have begun the institutional component of their apprenticeship at Simtech. Most of the learners having already obtained N6 at an FET college are now set to take on the workplace and prove themselves in industry. The applies will cover all aspects of their trade as well as some hard labour in order to understand that there is a ‘right of passage’ to being an artisan. Their institutional modules will be completed in October and they will then be place into industry to put to practice what they have learnt.
We are still looking for candidates have the required experience in the trades of Fitting, electrical and welding, but don’t have the means of doing their trade test. We have the funding to get you to your trade test if you meet SETA requirements.
